Because ICT research is a strategic and competitive sector both at international level and from an economic and social perspective, the academic players on the Saclay plateau got together in 2007 to develop a joint ICT research project: Digiteo. The Ecole Centrale de Paris, ENS Cachan and Université de Versailles-Saint-Quentin, then later the Institut Télécom, and more recently, ENSTA-ParisTech and Mines-ParisTech joined Digiteo as associate partners.
The Campus Paris-Saclay foundation for scientific cooperation, also behind the Université Paris-Saclay project, is the legal structure for Digiteo.

The Computer Sciences Laboratory for Mechanics and Engineering Sciences (LIMSI) is a CNRS laboratory (UPR 3251) associated with Paris-Sud University. The laboratory accommodates approximately 120 permanent personnel (researchers, professors and assistant professors, engineers, technicians) and about sixty PhD candidates. It undertakes multidisciplinary research in Mechanical and Chemical Engineering and in Sciences and Technologies for Information and Communication. The research fields cover a wide disciplinary spectrum from thermodynamics to cognition, encompassing fluid mechanics, energetics, acoustics and voice synthesis, spoken language and text processing, vision and Virtual Reality .

At the heart of the Plateau de Saclay (Ile-de-France), the CEA LIST Institute focuses its research on digital intelligent systems. In direct link with economic and social issues, the major R&D projects of CEA LIST focus on interactive systems (ambient intelligence), embedded systems (architecture, software engineering and systems), and sensors and signal processing (industrial control, health and safety , metrology).
